I recently thought: I am a kind person. Momentarily after, I asked myself: Am I being kind to others? How am I being kind? How often am I being kind? I was disappointed with the reality that I could not ignore. My intention is to be kind, yet my actions are not aligned with my intention. Once I realized this, I knew that I could act throughout my day by looking for opportunities to be kind to family, friends and even strangers.
In this time of Covid-19, a time of social distancing, I show kindness to others while taking neighborhood walks with my daughter by crossing the street so that approaching walkers can be safe and stay on the sidewalk. I say hello and smile at people we encounter on our walks. My daughter is fond of cooking and baking. She has delivered beautiful packages of her baked goods to family and friends, and she makes meals for friends.
My boyfriend is unbelievably kind to me! I will share one example now . . . more in a future post. On a daily basis, he has sacrificed his personal safety by shopping for us during these uncertain times so that my daughter and I could be safe at home. I never have to tell him what to buy either because he already knows. He always brings home what we need and like. I am resisting on mentioning more of his kindness. Again, more for a future post.
I remember times that someone has been kind to me: buying me an umbrella during a storm, paying for my Starbucks at the drive-thru, holding a door open for me and offering help when I needed it. I am grateful for the kindness that has been shown to me as well as the kindness that I can give with a pure heart.

Ways to be Kind:
1. Simply being courteous to a fellow shopper or driver.
2. Do a task or a chore for someone else to lighten their burden.
3. Send groceries to a senior.
4. Reach out to someone and ask if there is anything they need.
5. Give a genuine compliment.
6. Donate clothing.
7. Donate your time or a financial gift to a charity.
